"... it was a great header..."
|
Dundee United 1-1 ICT FC 28th April 2007
Certainly a game of two halves, the first half was dominated by Dundee United, the second by Caley Jags. United's early efforts were rewarded towards the end of the first half when on 41 minutes David Robertson headed home a Noel Hunt cross. Caley Jags started the second have with more urgency. Graham Bayne replied on 58 minutes when he headed in a Richie Hart free kick.

After the match Donald Park, Caley Jags assistant head coatch said: "...I think our second-half performance we might just have deserved the draw and no more... It was a great header from Graham Bayne, great delivery from Richie Hart... as soon as he got in front of the defender it was a goal."
United's manager Craig Levein said: "I'm frustrated and disappointed we didn't win the match... the game should have been over at half-time and the second half should have been a chance to relax, play some good football and entertain our fans..."

"we got a break"
|
ICT FC 1-0 Dundee United 3rd March 2007
It's not unusual to see a goal in the last second of a Caley Jags game. However it's nice not to be on the receiving end this time. As extra time was drawing to a conclusion Barry Wilson had his penultimate shot on goal. It was saved by Derek Stillie, however Graham Bayne knocked the rebound onto Markus Paatelainen, who passed it back to Wilson. This time the shot was not stopped by Stillie, and Caley Jags pick up three points. This puts them back up to seventh place in the table.

Charlie Christie was pleased, for the team, after today's late win, "For the first 25 minutes we were very flat and in the second half we didn't perform very well either... we got a break late on... there is absolutely no doubt that these boys deserve it."
Craig Levein said, "... we failed to take them and were caught at the end by a sucker punch. We were just lacking a killer touch,"

"... it was a well deserved win.... "
|
ICT FC 1-0 Dundee United 3rd February 2007
Caley Jags now progress to the next round of the Tennent's Scottish Cup after a victory over Dundee United. The only goal of the game came on 15 mins when a defensive header by Lee Wilkie fell to Russell Duncan who volleyed in from 25 yards. Highlights of the game included fine displays of footwork from Michael Fraser and Ross Tokley and shots on goal by Barry Wilson and Rory McAllister. However, even with a fight back by United in the final 15 mins of the game no further goals were added to the score.
After the match Charlie Christie said, "I thought it was a well deserved win... It was a special strike, he (Russell Duncan) doesn't get very many goals but when he does score they tend to be very good finishes."Craig Levein said, "I can't fault our effort, but we lacked quality. Our biggest problem was that our most creative players didn't perform. As a team we never played cohesively."

"... I expect more at this level... "
|
Dundee United 3-1 ICT FC 9th December 2006
Caley Jags went into the lead on 15 minutes when Barry Wilson scored from a well executed free kick on the edge of the box, which left keeper Derek Stillie rooted to the spot. United equalised on 22 minutes with a Noel Hunt goal. Hunt scored a second on 65 minutes. David Roberson scored United's third goal on 78 minutes following a penetrating run and cut back by Hunt.
Caley Jags' manager Charlie Christie, disappointed for the second week on the trot, said: "The endeavour is not lacking. But, there is more to football than that and sometimes the guys were just happy to get the ball out of the area. I expect more at this level. It is time to stand up and be counted."United striker Noel Hunt said, " I should have had a hat-trick but Mark Brown had a great save from my header in the first half."

"... Caley are a good side who are difficult to break down."
|
ICT FC 0-0 Dundee United 16th September 2006
Caley Jags dominated the first half but were unable to capitalise. United had an improved second half when they caused more problems for the home team. Caley Jags continue to fail to match their away form at home.
Charlie Christie: "... we had three great chances in the first half... The frustrating thing was that on too many occasions we played a safe ball instead of a decisive pass." Craig Brewster: "... But there were not many clear-cut chances because Caley are a good side who are difficult to break down."
